Flying high- the business man and the tramp!

Blue for the sky, though it was gray today. I had fun taking pictures of Danny on the trampoline at recess. That kid can really jump. Perhaps he has a future in one of those crazy Disney World shows, like the rollerskating trapeze monkeys from Tarzan Live!!! I wonder how it pays..

Jerry headed off to some meetings wearing his slick new suit! I made him model for me, he did his sears catalogue look!

New shirt and tie as well, I have good taste don't I :)

First Day of School!

Molly and Charlotte started classes today. Charlotte was dropped off at the HS, and was supposed to start home right after school ended. I took Grandy and we set out walking, I imagined that I would meet up with her at the end of our neighborhood, but I ended up walking all the way to the high school! Grandy was whipped, and When I got there I still couldn't find her. I was pretty worried when she finally turned up. She remembered what I had told her, but all she said was   sorry.  Hmmm. hope it goes better tomorrow.
Molly is missing all her friends at the Howell Campus, and isn't sure she wants to stay in Hartland. I suggested that she wait out this week, and talk over the weekend.
Danny and I got off to a good start for the week, though he was exhausted from his vacation and a bit weepy! He loved meeting the dog and we took a nice walk with him for a morning break. He also shared his adventures from the weekend, walking over the bridge with 36,000 other folks including the Gov.,having s'mores with his pals, going to a beachbums minor league BBall game in Traverse City.
I worked Teen gaming with Anne for a few hours, nice to be at work, but not dealing with Carla.

Summers End, made easier with friends!

Highlight of the day=Potluck with the original old crowd, Pat and Patty,Nic and Renee, Eric and Karen and Sam, and Molly,Charlotte,Jerry and I.  We have a fire on the patio and loads of shared food on the table. Salads, brats, chicken sandwiches, carrot cake, pumpkin dessert, and loads of drinks and coffee. The food was good but the conversation was better. The depth of ease with people who you have known for 17 years is so wonderful. Spiritually they fill me!
Charlotte continued to make progress with Grandy. She had trouble on a walk, and after encouragement, she tried again, and was successful. Jer and I picked up a small bed(on clearance) and he hopped right in. She was so excited to show all our friends, and they were so cute. Renee was rocking him like a baby, and Patty gave him a smooch too!

check out Grandy's new bed!

two beautiful daughters

The gals!

men on the patio, and Charlotte

Jer and I picked up the suits he had ordered in June at Jos. A. Banks and he is all set for his meetings this week. You gotta look like money to make money, and he does!!
Lunches are packed and early bedtimes enforced, Bring on 2011-2012 school year!

Day of Rest, mostly!

here's to bacon!

cholesterol for everyone!!

Well we relaxed today, in fact I read this morning on the sunporch with my coffee! Finished my book by 8am and finished a pot of coffee! Jerry made a big bacon and egg breakfast for he and the girls. We ran in the afternoon(Sam, we missed you!) and took the dog. We ran a couple of miles first, then got Grandy from the car and took him for a nice walk. Used his cool thirsty dog water bottle/bowl--slick!
After a fantastic mass with Father Mark(until you love yourself, you can't love your neighbor as we are commanded by Jesus. An amazing but complex thing to roll around in your mind!) we did what makes our church life so special, we visited with friends. So many groups of people standing around after mass, laughing, talking, caring about each other. You feel a part of the body of CHRIST for sure! Father Mark turned the lights out on us!
Charlotte was worried about the dog being alone, but he did just fine. Charlotte,Jerry and I took him for a nice long walk. She has had so much fun telling everyone her big news!
After I Love Lucy and the Detroit Tigers(up 9-0 as I type!) the evening is shutting down. Aahhh!

A new member of the family...Grandy the Dog!

Grandy (the mellow man) Hincka

The snaggle tooth is endearing

Calling Jake to tell him about her new dog!

She is in love!!!

Well we did it! We got a new dog today, through last chance rescue in Howell. They post the dogs online, so I was able to do some investigating. This little guy had to be turned in by his owner when she went into a Nursing Home. Charlotte is so happy and excited to have a dog of her own. We dropped the big bucks on him, and all his needs, food, bowls, etc. Oh well! Charlotte has walked and cleaned his poop(with the handy bags attached to his leash) so so far so good! I just hope he attaches to her. I am trying to stay away. She has named him Grandy, after Curtis Granderson, of her beloved Yankees, and it is a cute name for sure.  Danny will be very surprised when he gets home from his trip up north. The getting of the dog pretty much took up all day. Jerry and the girls came home from the lake when it started pouring at 10am. They really wanted to watch Brady Hokes debut as football coach at U of M, and I reminded Jer that he had central air(it is 92 today) and a recliner here in Brighton, so home they came. Just in time to meet me at Pet Smart where they show the dogs available for adoption. Grandy is a "fluffy mix" we are saying, he definitely has Shih Tzu in him, the gal said. Anyway we are pretty excited to have this big new event in our lives!!

When don't you like all your wood floors??

When it's time to clean them! After Danny headed out with the Arbours I tackled the floors, and other things around the house..laundry, organizing, trip to Sally's, Kohl's for some picture ledges and new running shoes. Home goods--premise of trip, return a couple of dishtowels, and I leave with a bench for the front hall, and a couple of cute fall accessories for the Normandy Beach dresser. Shawne is going to help me hang the ledges tomorrow and then I will put a picture here!

Thursday Sept 1 Fire Up Chips!

Jerry and the girls headed up to Mount Pleasant to cheer the Chips on in their opening game. They had a ball! You can march into the stadium behind the band, which the girls love to do, and the team won, so it was a great night. Jerry took them for a meal before the game at his old hangout The Bird. They had burgers and threw darts.  They headed to the cottage after the game to swim and fish, and Jerry is very happy about that!
Danny and I had a good school day, and then we hung out together. We watched Roman Holiday, which had been high on our list since our Rome trip, and talked about books and life. Danny enjoyed the movie, there are alot of comic moments and we laughed! He also worked hard on organizing his room, and we moved his bed, put his dresser in the closet, and donated a bunch of toys to salvation army. I hope I continue the cleaning tomorrow when I am on my own.
