Faithful readers can recite my Wednesday entry by heart...off to the markt, by fruits and veggies, visit the stroopwafle man and get our cones, hit up Terre de homme for our thrift store treasures...it's our favourite day of the week! As we walked we enjoyed talking about all the places we had visited this past week and which activities Gary enjoyed the most. After a relaxing lunch and a bit of down time we headed over to Delft in search of wooden shoes. This must have Dutch souvenir is trickier to find them you might think! I knew that there were multiple tourist shops on the Grote Markt and I hoped they would be able to supply our needs. On our way into town we saw an awesome low barge chugging down the canal. I pulled over to the side of the road and Danny,Gary and I jumped out and ran across to the canal to get a closer view. After the barge came a small tug and a large yacht, all heading to the open bridge. We waved and the pilots waved back, which made the boys smile! We did a thorough check of prices and selection in 5 different shops and settled on Gary's red wooden shoes and a few other items he needed for his friends and family. Success! We spent the evening reading, playing UNO and watching the movie Zathura. Then we got Gary's bags packed and brought downstairs so we will be ready for our early departure. What a fun visit we have had, I know the house will seem empty tomorrow.
