It feels strange not to be at Saint Pats this week. For years it has been so much a part of our Holy Week. I miss the last supper mass and the Living Stations. Jerry and Molly drove over to Our Saviour to go to the Veneration of the Cross service this evening, but it is too late for Charlotte. We have prayed today, especially for all the intentions of both of our Churches. I am also praying for Bella Santorum, Rick Santorum's three year old daughter, she is hospitalized again and I can't imagine what her family is going through on this Holy Day.
We did share togetherness today with a trip to Pijnacker to shop a bit. On all these long walks, I really get a chance to talk to the kids about all sorts of big things and nothing things. No radio like on our car trips in the US. Today Molly wanted to talk(endlessly, bless her heart!) about Austin Jackson's walk off and Justin Verlanders great pitching in the opening day game for the Tigers. Charlotte was decked out in Blue for her beloved Yanks, who open today (though Jerry just gave me an update on Tampa's grand slam-yikes!) and Danny is recounting each and every word he remembers in the trilogy he is reading, The Lord of the Rings. He is on book three now, and boy he retells it well. So we don't lack for conversation, and usually see something new, like a weird goose today, or a cool car, or pretty flowers. It is great!
Today we skyped; Chris--Danny, Kerry--Susan, and the family--Catherine,Donnie and Allie(at their house for a mad madelaine baking frenzy!) So my miss the family spot is all filled in for now!
We just heard that Jake is on his way out of Afghanistan at 0500 tomorrow, and is expecting to arrive in MI on 10 April, by way of Kabul,Germany and other ports of call. Keep him in your prayers this week if you will, I hope he has a wonderful leave.
Enjoy the Easter weekend! By the way, the chocolate over here is from Belgium and it's Fantastic!!
